Brother HL-L2370DW Review - Review 2022
As a monochrome laser printer for light to medium-duty use in a micro or home office, the Blood brother HL-L2370DW ($129.99) offers good speed and output quality for text and graphics. It has a wide range of connection choices, good paper handling, and a competitive cost of ownership. Its mix of features and operation at a minor price earns it our Editors' Pick.
Simple and Compact
The matte-blackness and gray HL-L2370DW is suitably compact for a upkeep mono laser. Information technology measures 7.2 by fourteen by fourteen.ii inches (HWD), and weighs 15.9 pounds. It should be easy plenty to discover a spot for it on your desk. On top of the printer, a one-line monochrome display to the left of the output tray, combined with a small suite of function buttons, facilitates setup and maintenance.
The HL-L2370DW's paper handling is typical of a color laser in its price class. It includes a 250-sheet main tray plus a one-sheet multipurpose feeder. An auto-duplexer, for press on both sides of a sheet of paper, comes standard. The maximum monthly duty cycle is xv,000 pages, making it suitable for up to medium-duty use in a micro or small office.
Connectivity choices include connecting to a computer via a USB cable, or to a local network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Information technology can also connect via a straight peer-to-peer connection to a compatible device using Wi-Fi Direct, which is as well supported the Dell Printer - E310dw ($443.00 at Amazon) just non the Canon ImageClass LBP151dw. The HL-L2370DW supports Google Cloud Print, works with the Brother iPrint&Scan app, and is AirPrint compatible to facilitate press from iOS devices.
Not Too Shabby
The HL-L2370DW printed out the text-just (Word) portion of our business applications suite at a 33 page-per-minute (ppm) clip, just short of its 36ppm rated speed. In press the full suite, which includes PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel files in addition to the aforementioned Discussion document, it averaged xiv.4ppm. Nosotros can't directly compare its speed with the Dell E310dw or Canon LBP151dw ($199.99 at Amazon) , which were tested using our quondam protocol, but the LBP151dw is rated at 28ppm for simplex (one-sided) printing while the E310dw is rated at 27ppm.
Run across How We Test Printers
Neat Text, Good Graphics
Overall output quality is a potent point for the HL-L2370DW, based on our testing. It offers first-class text, above-par graphics, and slightly beneath-par photograph quality. Text should exist fine for any business utilise, except mayhap for those requiring tiny fonts.
Graphics are good enough for most any business apply, including PowerPoint handouts—even those intended for important clients. It did well in rendering sparse lines, too. For the most part it handled like shadings in graphs and tables converted from color illustrations well, although in one figure a slope between different shades was barely visible. Our exam printouts were all but free of the banding that is often seen in backgrounds from laser printers.
With photos, there was substantial dithering (graininess) in some prints, and a loss of item in some bright areas. The HL-L2370DW can print out recognizable images from web pages, which is about every bit much as you lot can look from typical budget mono lasers.
Competitive Running Costs
Running costs for the HL-L2370DW, based on Brother's price and yield figures for consumables (toner and drum), are 3.five cents per page, typical of a budget mono laser and the same every bit the Canon ImageClass LBP151dw. The Dell e310's running costs are a tad lower, at iii.3 cents per page.
Simplicity in Action
The Brother HL-L2370DW offers an highly-seasoned combination of low price, excellent text and adept graphics quality, good speed and connectivity, and suitable paper capacity. Its just real shortcoming is subpar photo quality, which more often than not is a nonissue for people shopping for a budget mono laser. Graphics, and especially text, are much more important for typical micro or home offices. The HL-L2370DW does a standout chore in press text, and is good at graphics printing as well, while the competing Dell E310dw'south text was below par in our testing, as were the Canon LBP151dw's graphics. Past virtue of its good text and graphics quality, proficient speed, solid feature prepare, and competitive running costs, the Brother HL-L2370DW becomes our new Editors' Option budget mono laser.
